Community Strength Shines as Ban Wang Kra Residents Unite
to Overcome Flood Crisis in Yala

Yala, Thailand — Despite facing recurring flooding during the rainy season, residents of Ban Wang Kra, Village No. 4, Tase Subdistrict, Mueang District, Yala Province, have demonstrated remarkable resilience and unity in overcoming the crisis together.

Located downstream of the Pattani Irrigation Dam, the community is regularly affected by rising water levels. Floodwaters from multiple upstream areas—including the Bang Lang Dam in Bannang Sata District, as well as La-ae and Bangosenae villages in Yaha District—converge into the Pattani reservoir, intensifying the impact in certain areas. The Tanyong Plai Na zone, in particular, has been among the hardest hit.

However, beyond the challenges posed by flooding, what stands out most is the strong spirit of cooperation within the community.

Residents have organized themselves to provide systematic and continuous support to one another. Volunteers travel by boat to reach affected households, checking on residents’ needs and ensuring that assistance is delivered promptly. Communication channels have also been established to enable rapid response in emergency situations.

Through cooperation and mutual support, Ban Wang Kra stands as a powerful example of a resilient community moving forward together.
